Bay Country Chorus Performs at National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda

On June 29, twenty-two members of the Bay Country Chorus traveled to the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda to visit with the wounded Marines being cared for there. The Chorus? goal was to provide some entertainment for patients, family members and hospital staff and to express thanks for all that these brave folks are doing every day. In addition to their repertoire, the Chorus brought along several dozen pizzas and a variety of desserts for lunch.
The father of one wounded Marines being treated at the Hospital said: "It really helps all of us to know that someone cares. During my son?s stay at the Hospital, it has been remarkable to see the number of volunteers and groups like the Bay Country Chorus who come here to give thanks and to support our Wounded Warriors."
Members of the Bay Country Chorus were clearly moved by the experience: Said one member: "This is one of the most important things that this Chorus can do." Another Chorus member remarked: "It was an awe-inspiring event. We probably got more out of this visit than anyone at the Hospital did". Several Chorus members also noted that the Hospital visit was a great opportunity to remember those who have given so much for all of us.
Stew Darrow, President of the Bay Country Chorus noted: "The sincere thanks we received from the First Sergeant and from the Deputy Facility Commander of the Hospital were ample evidence that our visit was very much appreciated and significant to patients and staff alike who were able to attend."
After the visit, Sgt. Joe Bradley of the Marines? Events and Visitation office at the Hospital said: "You guys were great. Keep me posted on when you want to schedule the next visit!"
The Bay Country Chorus hopes to make a return visit to the National Naval Medical Center (and perhaps to Walter Reed Army Medical Center as well) some time later in the year. The Chorus would like to thank the Tidewater Motor Coach, LLC who generously provided the use of a bus for the trip to Bethesda.
